Blast from the past of Japanese Anima/Mecha Empty
PostSubject: Blast from the past of Japanese Anima/Mecha   Blast from the past of Japanese Anima/Mecha I_icon_minitimeSun Jan 02, 2011 3:38 am

Here is a link to a cartoon that I grew up watching and loved greatly. It premiered in 1979 in the USA based on a Japanese cartoon that started in 1974. I wonder if any of you old timers remember it. It is called Star Blazers. Basic plot is Earth is attacked by alien race and we get our butt kicked. Another alien race offers to help us but we have to go to them for it. All of Earth's space battleships have been destroyed but they refurbish the sunken Japanese Battleship Yamato from WW2 as a space ship and fly it to the alien planet. This cartoon basically started the craze of sci-fi based cartoons and such.

The quality of the youtube video is pretty lousy so if someone knows of another place on the web to watch it for free let me know.
